Pannage Season

One of the New Forest’s most distinctive autumn traditions. During pannage season, Commoners turn their pigs out into the Forest to feast on fallen acorns, helping to protect the ponies and cattle that roam here. Keep an eye out on autumn walks and drives, and enjoy a glimpse of a centuries-old tradition still very much part of Forest life today.
