Hotel news, Woolley Grange
There is something truly special about places that feel like home the moment you arrive. This autumn, one of the UK’s most cherished family hotels is welcoming guests once again. Luxury Family Hotels is delighted to announce the reopening of Woolley Grange, its beautiful Jacobean manor house near Bath, following a full renovation that has breathed new life into this much-loved countryside retreat.
Woolley Grange invites families back to experience its warmth, charm and character, just in time for cosy breaks and half-term getaways filled with togetherness and relaxation.
The transformation has been led by StudioJill, the acclaimed design team behind other Luxury Family Hotels favourites such as Fowey Hall, Moonfleet Manor and New Park Manor. Their vision for Woolley Grange was to embrace what makes it so unique while giving it a refreshed identity that feels both timeless and inspiring.
Jill Higgins, Founder of StudioJill, explains:
“We wanted to celebrate the inherent charm and patina of the building while layering in crafted pieces, pattern and texture. The idea was to create something that feels both playful and relaxed, blending the old with the new.”
Throughout the manor, guests will find rich textures, earthy tones and beautiful handcrafted details that reflect the building’s heritage while introducing a calm, welcoming atmosphere. Cosy corners, aged oak and touches of country character remain at the heart of the Woolley Grange experience.
The first phase of the reopening includes a number of beautifully refreshed rooms and suites, as well as much-loved public spaces such as the Restaurant, Drawing Room, Long Room, Afternoon Tea Lounge, Private Dining Room and The Orangery.
Families can look forward to the revitalised Spa, which now features two new treatment rooms, an outdoor hot tub and a brand-new sauna beside the indoor pool. For younger guests, the Woolley Bears Den children’s club has reopened, offering fun and creativity for little ones. Older children can enjoy the Hen House, a dedicated space with a pool table and games that gives tweens and teens their own place to unwind.
Much-loved traditions remain part of the story. The hotel’s resident bear and vintage fairground memorabilia have been lovingly restored and reimagined, ensuring Woolley Grange continues to feel like a place full of character and discovery.
Not every room is open just yet, as more spaces will be revealed over the coming months. Additional accommodation in the Pavilion and Stone Cottage will follow soon, completing the next stage of the refurbishment.
Woolley Grange has always been more than a hotel. It is a home-from-home for families, where comfort, connection and memory-making come naturally. With its refreshed interiors and thoughtful design, the manor is ready to welcome families old and new for an unforgettable winter stay in the Wiltshire countryside.
