Hotel news, The Ickworth
The wait is over. The Ickworth has reopened, unveiling a beautifully reimagined experience for families seeking space to reconnect, moments to savour and memories that will last long after the journey home.
Set within 1,800 acres of National Trust parkland near Bury St Edmunds, The Ickworth has long been one of Suffolk's most distinctive family hotels. Following a thoughtful restoration, the historic Grade I listed estate enters an exciting new chapter while remaining true to the character, charm and sense of wonder that have made it so loved by generations of guests.
Every part of the hotel has been thoughtfully redesigned, from the bedrooms and restaurants to the wellness facilities and family spaces. Led by acclaimed interior design studio StudioJill, the transformation celebrates The Ickworth's grand Italianate architecture while introducing a fresh, contemporary feel inspired by the estate's rich history. Throughout the hotel, vintage and modern design elements sit effortlessly alongside one another, creating spaces that feel both elegant and welcoming.
Guests arriving at The Ickworth will discover beautifully refreshed public spaces designed for relaxation, connection and celebration. The Drawing Room, Library and Conservatory have all been reimagined to provide inviting places to gather, unwind and spend time together.
The hotel's 37 redesigned bedrooms offer a luxurious retreat after days spent exploring the Suffolk countryside. Larger family groups can also enjoy the flexibility of The Dower House and Butler's Quarters, making The Ickworth an ideal destination for multigenerational holidays, family celebrations and special occasions.
Wellbeing sits at the heart of the new experience. The refreshed spa features treatment rooms, relaxation areas, an indoor swimming pool, steam room, sauna and Nordic-inspired hot tub, creating a peaceful sanctuary within the estate grounds. Families can enjoy dedicated wellness experiences together, while adults can make the most of restorative treatments and adult-only swim times. The spa reopens on 22nd June.
Dining has also been elevated, with seasonal menus celebrating the very best of Suffolk produce. From traditional afternoon teas and family dinners to relaxed breakfasts overlooking the estate, every meal is designed to bring generations together around the table.
Children remain at the centre of The Ickworth experience. The refreshed Four Bears Den Kids Club is filled with toys from brand partner Scandiborn, creating a space designed for imagination, play and discovery. Dedicated spaces for tweens and teens, a cinema room and family-friendly facilities ensure younger guests have just as much to explore as the adults.
While much has changed, the spirit of The Ickworth remains the same. This is still somewhere filled with discovery, wonder and connection. Somewhere families can slow down, explore together and create memories that will be talked about long after the journey home.
Now reopened, The Ickworth is ready to welcome guests once again to experience one of Suffolk's most remarkable luxury family hotels.
