Family experiences, Fowey Hall, Moonfleet Manor
Most people know about the North Coast 500 and Route 66, but have you heard England’s newest route that offers something for all the family, the South West 660? The South West 660 is an iconic road trip from Poole in Dorset to Watchet in Somerset, following the beautiful coastline of south west England. With 12 unique sections, each around 50 miles long, you can experience the diversity and splendour of the four counties that make up this stunning corner of the UK.
Along this iconic route you can find two of our hotels, Fowey Hall and Moonfleet Manor.
Moonfleet Manor features early in the route in the second section from Weymouth to Lyme Regis. This follows the Dorset coast westwards from Weymouth to Lyme Regis offering an adventure. It’s not only within one of the country’s largest Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, but you will also be able to see the extraordinary landscapes of the Jurassic Coast, the UK’s only natural World Heritage Site. The highlights of this stretch include Chesil Beach, one of the world’s finest and longest pebble barriers, and the strange orange sandstone of Golden Cap, the highest cliff along the whole southern English coastline.
When the route heads further west into Devon and Cornwall, route 6 - Plymouth to St Austell, is where you can find Fowey Hall. The coastal stretch between Looe and Par is particularly special in our opinion. The bays and rocky headlands form an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The maze of coastal lanes leads to a gorgeous untamed stretch of seashore just waiting to be explored.
The ethos of the SW660 is all about taking your time, slowing down, and enjoying the moment and is perfect whether you are travelling as a couple, with a dog or with all the family in tow.
