Introducing our team
Meet Adam Dyke, Luxury Family Hotels Group Operations Director
Luxury Family Hotels recently welcomed a new Group Operations Director, Adam Dyke. Adam joins LFH with a wealth of hospitality experience including Artfarm, Chewton Glen and Devonshire Hotels and Restaurants.
We caught up with Adam to find out a bit more about him and his career in hospitality.
What did you aspire to be when you were 10 years old?
I wanted to be a footballer and play for Newcastle United.
So assuming your career aspirations changed, what made you get into hospitality?
Sadly, I didn’t do as well as I wanted to at my A levels and went through clearance. I met my then-potential university lecturer and she set me a challenge telling me that to do hospitality you had to be dedicated and work hard. I’ve always loved a challenge and haven’t looked back since then.
What was it about Luxury Family Hotels that caught your eye?
A couple of things stood out for me, I have a family and have always believed there is a key market for families, parents and children in hospitality. I was aware of LFH’s specialism and found that really exciting. Secondly, after meeting the owners and Managing Director I was keen to take on the challenge and work for them.
Tell us about your most memorable holiday
There are a few that stand out - a few Christmases ago I went to New York City with my wife, Carrie and my 3 daughters. We ice skated in front of the Rockefeller Centre, as Elf did, and visited the Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty, Central Park Zoo, Natural History Museum, and all the famous landmarks. I had been to New York before but not with my children, it was a different experience with them, and it was magical to see them intrigued by the enormity of it.
Secondly, I went to Lapland as a family several years back, we met Father Christmas, and enjoyed temperatures of minus 30! I also drove the girls on a dogsled at night and we were able to see the Northern Lights, an incredible once-in-a-lifetime experience. My fondest holiday memories tend to be those that involve my family as time with them making these memories is so important to me.
If you could invite any three guests to a dinner party at one of the hotels, who would you choose?
This is such a tough question. There are three people I have met and served during my career that I think it would be incredible to have a meal with - King Charles, Dame Judy Dench and the late Sir Bobby Robson. However, if it was more of a party than a dinner then it would have to be Liam Gallagher, Will Ferrell & Alan Shearer - what a night that would be!
To make wonderful memories with your family, book a stay at Luxury Family Hotels - Adam will be keen to hear your experience'
