Logan’s Relaxation Adventure: My Time in the Somadome

Earlier this year New Park Manor reopened following its stunning refurbishment and the spa has a relaxing addition of a Somadome.

The Somadome is a freestanding, immersive pod where you can enjoy a 20-minute session with LED colour and light therapy, binaural beat meditation, and magnetic therapy to create profound mental, physical, and spiritual benefits.

The pod offers twenty different 20-minute experiences that include motivate, aspire and recharge. These experiences are suitable for ages 6yrs+

We invited Logan, aged 9yrs, to come along and experience the Somadome and tell us all about it.

Logan, tell us, what was the Somadome session like?

I was bit worried at first, but then I saw it was a comfy and cosy egg type pod with a touchscreen where you pick your meditation for the session. There are lots of different ones to choose from, depending on what you want. Emily, the therapist, walked me through the options and said I could pick from ones that would help me feel braver, give me more energy, help me think better, or just make me chill out and even have a snooze! The light inside the pod was really cool and changes colour based on what you pick.

What happened during the session?

When I went into the room the pod opened up, and I got to sit back on a really comfy seat. If you are little like me, you can even tuck your feet up and get extra comfy. When I was ready to start, the lid went down over my head to close the dome. It feels nice and cosy, but still roomy, I was a bit worried about being squished but it was fine.

How did you feel after your Somadome session?

I picked the 'healing' session, and it was so good! The lights, and sounds in the pod helped me feel calm quickly, and the 20 minutes felt like just 20 seconds. My brain turned off and I felt like I was almost asleep, so I don’t remember everything clearly, but it felt like a dream. My whole body tingled as the sounds got louder and quieter. When it finished, I felt really calm and full of energy. I came out feeling happy and chilled.
